@greg, first welcome to CCF. Second, it looks to me like your first pic is upside down. That character means "rich" or "wealth" in Chinese. I'm guessing that you have a gambling token, perhaps from Macau.

That is a 1 tael coin from French IndoChina, made from 1943 to 1944. There were two types made: one that is 34.0 grams, and one that is 38.2 grams. With your coin being in the middle of both, I am not sure which it would be, but it is not a cheap coin (see here and here).
