Thank you very much! I sometimes refrain from posting things here, and on different sites, in the event someone will cast down on me. Thinking I should already know how to do something.

Nickel guy....
Don't fret over posting links here. Some people just look for things to complain about. Matter-of-fact, someone will probably jump on me for telling you not to fret about it. Just part of life on the Internet. They'll get over it.

Hey, Nickel Guy, ditto on what Westernsky wrote. I daresay that we're all in the same boat, questioning, learning and re-learning about our mutual hobby.
I'd not disparage a coin solely on the basis of where the seller is located, his/her feedback, listing criteria, etc. There's an old saying that, "The devil is in the details." I just think it's a good idea to take into consideration all we can; particularly so, when doing deals in cyberspace.
BTW, with 8 hours to go, bidding is at $86.

I bet it gets taken down before it before it closes.

The fact that: 1) the seller is from the Ukraine 2) the seller has zero feedback 3) the seller registered with ebay FEB-18-2017 4) the seller listed a commonly counterfeited coin FEB-18-2017 5) the listing is the seller's only listing 6) the coin is not certified by a grading company approved by ebay (it is "raw") ...by themselves prove NOTHING about the authenticity of the coin. A coin on ebay can only be analyzed by looking at the photos provided by the seller. Once a determination is formulated that it MIGHT BE or MOST LIKELY IS counterfeit, then the 6 points listed above come into play. One should NOT ignore those points when deciding to bid on an ebay raw coin. Some or all of those 6 points (or similar) are commonly present when a counterfeit coin is listed on ebay.

@NSS-52 .... I don't see where anyone in this thread used those points you cited to gauge the authenticity of the alleged coin.

@EXO, those points were made to expand on the fact that it was mentioned several times that the seller was from the Ukraine and had zero feedback, and upon your comment "I'd not disparage a coin solely on the basis...". I hope it was apparent that I agree with that opinion.

Quote: I hope it was apparent that I agree with that opinion. @NSS-52 ... Thanks for clarifying that. It wasn't clear to me, given your use of CAPS, emphasizing the negative words. I do realize that statements can be easily misconstrued at times. On the plus side, there are many inexperienced ebay buyers who would and will benefit from giving careful consideration to the admittedly redundant points cited in this thread.

As I think back...wow, did I get lucky! The first day I signed up with ebay, I sold two raw coins. One was just a circulated Franklin half; the other was a 1879-CC dollar. And no one flagged them as being counterfeit!

Super congrats on shopping for that last coin for your 7070! With the FLOOD of fakes ebay is now a cautious place to shop. A circulated Franklin half would be of no significance offered from a new seller and a 1879-CC Morgan would be easier to spot. Don't really think it was luck.

The seller may have a roll of these!
Reported .... I reported the previous one, too. Bobby's got the big bat though!

What's the proper selection for reporting? I was trying to find the right reason to report allegedly silver French coins which were minted in years that would make them nickle, but I couldn't find a choice for improper description. This was the same for the guy selling Details Cleaned slabs as professionally cleaned. Bobby eventually got rid of them, but it'd be nice to walk through the report choices. Thanks.
