Certainly reduces it!

It's verdigris, caused by an acid reacting with the metal.

If you remove it, you'll have a gouge in the metal.

Still a huge bargain at 17c, though !

it could just be a surface film, easily removed with goo-gone

I'm not sure goo-gone would be a good idea. It might be worse.

I'm sure there's all kinds of advice regarding chemicals and techniques, but why is it any different than toning? That green is spectacular!

you already have corrosion on the neck...that green stuff is gonna eat away at the coin.

Actually, it's not a bad coin except for the spot of verdigris, looks like the grade would have been high EF
