The 1921 P Morgan that I have-
Its has 16 Berries/Spiked F in OF (VAM3) and it also has the die gouge going thru the Olive Branches (VAM3H)

Can this be both a Vam3 and a Vam3H or if not, which one should it be?

Thanks for any info.

A coin can only have one variety, it has to have all of the identifying markers to be that variety.

The 3 and 3H varieties use the same reverse die. The VAM 3H is a later state of the die, and as such would have the marks from the earlier state unless the were polished away. Since your coin has the die gouge in the olive leafs it would be the 3H. The spiked F was probably not mentioned because it had been previously identified.

I can see that the VAM bug has bitten you hard.

I've gotten a good education on a whole new world of Numismatics!

Never knew anything this interesting existed regarding Morgan silver dollars / Peace dollars.
I have, for the most part, always concentrated on Lincoln Cents, Jefferson nickels, Mercury dimes Etc.-

I'm going back to looking for the 99 Wide AM - beginning later today- I'm starting to go blind looking at all the close details of these Morgans (LOL)

Thanks again for all your help these past 2 days regarding VAM'S
Very, Very fascinating subject.
