Found this. What do you think of grade? Worth grading?

An easy VF30 but looks like it's had an old cleaning and has since re-toned. Still a valuable coin in that grade and worth grading IMO.
Here are book values for that coin.

I'm curious to know where you "found" this coin?

Sorry. I found at a coin dealer in Ohio --I meant to say. Have a few Newfoundland coins as relatives are from there. They're not easy to find at dealers in the states--except maybe for cent coins or really worn/cleaned examples of the higher denominations. Also found 1880 50c in about F.

It looks like it would make VF-30.

Of course, with decent pics all coins posted here will get an opinion.

I wouldn't pay to get an opinion. You know what you have. Save the money that would go to the TPG and put it in your "I want to buy this coin" fund

Thank you for your opinions and info. Not as confident on Canadian coins. I usually send to PCGS but not sure they are that reliable on Canadian coins. Looking at the Heritage site and the PCGS grades, some VF coins are being called EF. I was excited to find out on Coins and Canada site only 20,000 minted!

PCGS and NGC are not the best when it comes to circulated canadian coins. Anything MS they do well but yes, like you, we often see VF in EF holders. Sometimes even worse. Being that you are in the US, I would save the money from grading. It would also potentially get a details grade from PCGS or NGC, which would kill it's market value quite a bit.

Nice piece with low mintage, thanks for sharing :)
