I have recently gotten this 1884 Indian Head cent for $14 on ebay from 232244249865.

What do you guys think? I am worried that this coin is corroded. I have enhanced the seller pictures on the second set of images.

I watched that auction and was wondering what the coin looks like "in hand".

I hope you'll post some photos when you get it.

The 4 in the date looks a little weak to me, but that could be the photo. I didn't think it had any corrosion on it.

The 4 might just be the photo and poor lighting imo. I could not increase the contrast too much in my enhanced pictures because there is a ton of noise in the picture

EF-45 details (ED - discolored, possibly from being buried).

I'm thinking XF-40 or 45 with perhaps some environmental damage?

From those pictures, it looks like it could make AU-50 to me, but possibly Details.

I think it is around XF45 or AU50, it definitely has some discoloration, but may or may not be bad enough to details. I still think it's worth the $14 either way

the pics are really bad to see the surfaces properly. it does not appear to be corroded. it does look like it was cleaned and possibly after being in the ground. I have it at AU50 environmental damage/cleaned

Well... Here's this coin in hand. Many of you were absolutely on the money on this one. You win some, you lose some. This time, I lost

Very nice obverse, shame about the dig on the reverse.

Any chance at returning it? Pics of the reverse looked like it was manipulated to cover up the reverse gouges

I have actually decided to resell it to someone who would buy it at my buy price. It would be too complicated to return it, considering that I would probably need to foot the shipping costs both ways. It really is a shame!! It would have been a pretty nice coin in my collection
