Worn out and can't even see the date and worth only five cents but I am very happy this is my first Buffalo nickel and I found it in a coin roll . *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Since Buffalo nickels are considered US Classic coins, I moved your post to the appropriate section for the proper attention. and I will guess 1920

Congrats on your find! Think it's a 1920-?. It's a candidate for your next science project! Use a 50%/50% mix of vinegar and hydrogen perioxide, let it soak submerged for 4-12 hours. Check after about 4-6 hrs, should start seeing the date start to pop up (MM will take much longer). Of course this is "altering" the coin, it eats away some metal becuz mix is a weak acid, but coin wasn't useable to begin with.

Date is 1920; can't see the mm area well enough to determine if a D or S is present. You could try a little soap and water and wash the dirt off. (I don't think a soap and water bath will destroy the value!)
