Congrats Druu! I had a good feeling about this one--glad that staring at fuzzy pictures on ebay paid off! Quote: Thulium, do you have an article or link that has the 2,500 and 3,500 figures for 1998 and 1999 CAMs? I got the mintage estimates from PCGS--scroll down to #80, 82; I've read similar figures elsewhere. Quote: I asked about that and she said someone else had asked for close ups. Thulium/Spruett, who's going to fess up? That might have been me--was the seller Coingirl? The new pics weren't great either, but I concluded that one wasn't a CAM.

My small gamble has shipped but the tracking updates don't tell me much. Hopefully I'll get it early next week. What do you think of this one? I edited it a little to try and bring out the features.

I think it was coingirl. Her new pics may have been worse than the initial one.
Spruett, I can't really tell from the pic. The pixelation seems to be messing with my perception too. Is that the only picture of the reverse?

There's only one reverse pic. Here's the cropped but otherwise unedited pic: Edit: after viewing that new pic in my post, I didn't realize the pixelation the editing added. Let me know which is more helpful, if either.

Here's the best pic from the Coingirl set--adjusted so it's easier to see things. For me, it's definitely a normal WAM proof. And I think that's the beginning of corrosion on the back. It's hard to see much on Spruett's coin, but my hunch is a WAM too.

Depending on the year, the proof cents are WAM coins. (except for 1993-S, when the proof coin is a close 'AM'. The 1998-S and 1999-S close 'AM's are the ones to look for)

That last one I posted is a 1998.

@Spruett I thought it was a 1998. Even with color tweaking, the background color was too far from blue for me. When it's it due to arrive? @Thulium That's what I saw from coingirl's pictures too. The text all seemed to point to a normal WAM, but the gap between the initials looks a little too wide. I think Coop may have been responding to young Devin's inquiry.

Quote: That last one I posted is a 1998. Gotcha--as long as we understand which years we're talking about: 1998-99. I hope somebody on CCF finds the '98 close AM--they appear to be much tougher to find. And So far, nobody has found 1997 or 2000 Close AM proof cents, which probably means they don't exist.

I haven't purchased the '98 set (yet - I submitted a low offer that was declined). I purchased a '99 set w/ quarters and I'm guessing it should be here Monday. What the heck, I'll give the '98 another shot and see what happens. I don't have either of those sets anyway so no harm. Edit: seller drove a hard bargain but, I got it for $1 less than BIN. So, we shall see when it arrives and now there's a record of the pic I used for this one (1998-s). By the way, what are you guys paying for these sets? They all seem to be within a few dollars of each other on ebay except for the silver sets of course.

Ok, so here's the pic I used for the first (1999) set purchased that arrived today. I'll be back later for actual pics...

I feel like I've seen that picture before. I'm not sure if it's one that I rejected as inconclusive. But then again, all of the fuzzy pictures start to look similar. That looks like a WAM to me. Initials are a touch too close to the memorial, and while the A and M appear to touch, it's at the base, where glare and lighting can appear to make it tough. I went over the shoddy picture I saw, and the AM junction appears to be slightly higher. I've still got my fingers crossed for you though! I missed your previous message earlier. Mine was a BIN for ten bucks with three shipping. I thought I might be able to haggle him down a bit via messages, but didn't want anyone swooping in in the meantime. (Perhaps I overestimated how many people would be hunting for this type of error?) I think Thulium posted the price of his recent find in that thread. I wouldn't mind linking to the one I bought since buyer IDs are obscured anyway.

I think this is a contest...who can find a CAM with the blurriest picture? Hard to see much in the picture, but the gap between the FG and the Memorial would get my attention. That said, since the set's arrived, you know for sure--right?
