Would like an opinion on this lot of silver . There is $15.00 face here mostly well circulated. There are a few nicer 50 cents in the bunch. If you had the opportunity to purchase what would you be willing to pay as a lot based on the photo? This is the only photo I can get. Thanks for your help.

I don't normally buy junk silver by the bundle, but Colonial acres charges $14.70 Cdn per dollar face value for a mix of silver coins, $15.30/dollar face for dollars only.
So $14.70 X 15 = $220 Cdn
Another site has it calculated in USD. $10.7819 USD worth Silver per dollar. So $10.7819 x 15 = $161.72 USD in Silver value, ($216.31 Cdn) retailer will want a premium of some sort.

Is it an auction, a dealer, or a private sale and is there mailing involved?

@okiecoiner - it is a private sale. 50 km drive each way to pick up or have it mailed. Also have no idea of exact dates or varieties. I would like to be fair but not be paying a big premium. Thanks and to you as well SilverDon.

Silver is about $18 US this AM and each Cdn dollar has .6 oz of silver. If it's $15 scrap silver, then you have/had 9 oz of silver. Since the coins are worn, I'd say that you could give him 90% of scrap (which is more than a dealer would give him). So now you have about 8 oz or pure silver that you will pay for, 18X8 equals $144 US. I'd give him $150 US or $200 Canadian, depending on what country that you are in. He's going to get well more than a dealer would give him and you are getting it well less than idf you bought it somewhere else.

okie has good advice. Dealers and the travelling road shows will buy as scrap based on current spot price. $15 FV is not a lot of coins but if you are going to make the drive you can check for any key dates.
Good luck with this, let us know how it turns out.
Cheers!

Good advice from Okie above. You might take a scale with you to get an exact weight since they're worn. Also those KGV's in the top right might have a premium over melt if they aren't too worn. And if any of them are 1919 or prior they are .925 silver. Good luck!

I think that the pre-1920 Ed's & Geo's are worn more than enough to make the minimal difference between .800 silver and .920 silver nonexistent.

$200 CDN is bang on. Unless any of the coins are great condition or key dates, the seller is getting a fair deal as well as the buyer. If there are any rarities, seller should've done his homework and buyer gets rewarded because he/she did.
