What about below melt? I got 2 1997 Canada proof sets (Sterling Silver $2, $1, $.50, $.25, $.10, & $.05) for $15 US each.

Here's some from back in the good ole days, when I had more desposable income & a willing wife. Even the gold I bought at melt, one is a Dahlonega mint.

The scale of this recent buy at melt is small, but it ranks among my best ever from the standpoint that numismatically it's likely worth at least a hundred times what I paid.

Close enough: Debased gold dinar of the Kidarite Huns in modern-day Kashmir, India, ruler Vinayaditya (c. 450 AD) at nearly 8 grams, it would have to be less than 18% fine for me to have paid more than melt.

I don't have any pictures, nor will I ever, but two years ago I went to a local coin show and this crazy man was selling f-vf Walking halves for melt, along with washingtons and Rosie's that were xf-au. I can't believe, even in my noobiness, I didn't recognize that as a deal. Hoping he'll be back this year.

That picture of the coins on the blanket is sort of stunning. I bought a few hundred Walking Liberty halves for $4 each not long ago.

Not including slabbed ASE and the cleaned Trade $1, stacked some silver last year @ ANA show all at no more than melt to $2 above. Yes, those really are 5 AU Morgans towards the bottom of the spread-out picture, along with an 1880-CC Rev '78, a 1903-S, and an 1878 7/8TF Long Nock. I actually had NGC slab the 1880-O at the very bottom right, it's now in a problem-free AU55 holder.

I paid a few dollars under melt for this coin, which remains my only US silver dollar (not counting the 1996 ASE my dad got me for my birthday this year). Mind you, this "a few dollars under melt" was actually $29. Just my luck that I decided to buy a bunch of big silver on April 27, 2011 1923-S Peace dollar (the mintmark is just barely visible, both in hand and on the photo). I estimate its grade to be on the upper end of FR-2 (but of course I can hardly afford to slab it). The shop had it mislabeled as 1921 (a much rarer date) - between that and it technically being under melt I was interested enough to buy. Fortunately, it's a beautiful coin either way.
