Who besides me, that is. I know there's somebody else. I did a physical inventory on the ones I've pulled from circulation, and here's the count so far: 42 x 2004-P Peace Medal 160 x 2004-D Peace Medal 127 x 2004-P Keel boat 50 x 2004-D Keel boat 102 x 2005-P Buffalo 121 x 2005-D Buffalo 222 x 2005-P Ocean 25 x2005-D Ocean I also keep every pre-1960 Jefferson I find, which currently total about 400 coins, of which about 100 are War Nickels. I have no idea what I'm going to do with all these nickels, but since their total face value is less than $80, I can't bring myself to take them to the bank. So, who else hoards things and probably isn't sure why? Jan

I have 10 rolls of D Peace Medals but that is only because I purchased them at the release ceremony in St. Louis at the Arch Quite an interesting ceremony- present were the Director of the Mint, Treasury Undersecretary, Spanish Ambassador to the US, French Ambassador the the US, and leaders of the tribes encountered by Lewis and Clark. It kicked off with the riverfront landing of a reproduced keelboat complete with a crew in period costume.

I might if I could actually find them in my change. I consider myself lucky to have found the ones I have!

I started out "hoarding" those and then changed my mind....I do maintain the Westward Series album......and by maintain I mean I'm still looking for two "P" mints to complete it. I didn't really see any future value to "circulated" Westward Series Nickels.....NONE AT ALL !......they're "neat" for sure.......and I'm a MASSIVE fan of Lewis & Clark........but I just did not see the point in saving circulated ones...And I did not get any when they come out....ever.... ...sucks for me! I would LOVE to have UNCIRCULATED rolls of them though......but I don't have any... ... The U.S. Mint was selling an uncirc. roll of Jefferson nickels which I purchased, but now I forget the year of those and I don't think they were a Westward Series type... .. ...

I don't save the 04 or 05 nickels, but in my quest to go through 25000 nickel rolls I am putting aside all pre 1959's. I have close to 2000 of them and have searched 4,500 bank rolls. I've found 78 silver nickels to this point

I disagree about them not ever being worth anything. Nickels and penny's may soon suffer the same fate as silver coin's, as far as melting goes. If this happens, coin's could be worth a lot more, especially the one's only minted for a year. Never know....

So there is where all the bison nickels went! No wonder I never see any in my change.

That's another good point, you don't see many of theses coin's in circulation. Nothing like the State Quarters, I have a hard time finding a quarter before 1999 now. I not going to go buy any of these nickels, unless I get a deal on some uncirculated one's, but I will keep the good one's that I do get.

I really like the westward series. I decided to build some rolls from circulation earlier this year. So far, I've got a full roll of all by the P mint bison. I haven't found any of those yet. Looks like Jan beat me to them!

I am "guilty" of doing this. Something causes me to save each of these nickels, if it is in great condition,
I haven't counted how many I have, but would guestinate about 200.

When I hunt nickels in rolls I usually find quite a few of the 2004 and 2005 versions. Interesting that the more recent ones are usually more plentiful -- that is, the ocean view ones, whereas the peace medal ones I usually find the fewest of. If my great-nephew (age 4, who is to inherit) and his grand-children keep these, they might be able to glut the market with 2004 and 2005 nickels some day. Jan
