Is this a genuine Trade dollar? I am thinking of buying it. A quick response is well appreciated!

It is frequently difficult to judge authenticity just from photos. On this one, the denticles are not of even length and there are extra bumps of metal on the wheat sheaf. Both of these things would make me doubt the authenticity to the point of not buying it.

I will say no. Just like nss-52 said, the denticles look weird, and the color matches the 1871 Trade dollar my Grandpa gave me.

Look at the continuity of the stars, points are off, globby looking, that's jut the obverse...

Yes, the dentiles on the obverse look bad. It is more than likely a counterfeit, and it does not have much eye appeal even if it is real. Here is a piece of advice. Don't buy raw Trade dollars. Don't even think about it. Have a happy life as collector and buy them certified. Is saving a few dollars really worth it when you can lose every dollar you spend?

Here's mine...sho'nuff shoat stuff. it is a faker! Every single fake I've had or seen has funky misformed stars.

Hi, I'm new to this forum and have been collecting Coins / Notes for some years now, I have a 1876-s Trade dollar in my collection which I am convinced is a fake due to the Silver being tarnished and revealing Copper beneath, It weighs 27.2 grams and it is NOT magnetic, Am I correct in believing it's a Fake or am I wrong? Thanks in advance to any info provided!

Silver plated Trade dollar with copper at its core, none was ever made at those time, so you can be sure its fake!

I also have a raw 1877 S I believe in my type set. I bought it from typecoin whom I trust and I also got it verified from my dealer and he said it was a very nice original mid VF piece.
