I thought some might enjoy seeing a original shipping box of five 1966 Special Mint sets. Recently I have been going through a large collection, some of the coins I have been buying for my collections. It looks like the original owner did not like two of the sets, returned them and two are replacement sets. I have seen the two different shades of blue boxes before, I wonder if one color was for box of five sets and the other color for single sets. Sorry for the bad lighting picture .. have to try to get better next time I am set up.

Neat batch. It's always fun to go through unpicked coins in hopes of finding something especially nice. Neat box of goodies. I'd probably keep them just as they are.

Thanks all Quote: Neat find GR58. The original shipping box is quite a plus! I agree .. with the box... I picked these up because I really like the idea that the sets are still in the shipping box for 50 years. I will be leaving them this way.

That's really cool. I can't imagine many people kept that shipping box. Props for keeping the group together!

Thanks for posting this - its neat to see the original box. Check the halves for DDO and no FG!

It's alive ..... I was thinking this thread was dead. One of the things I like about working part time at a coin shop ... is getting to pick up some interesting items that older collectors put away .... when their collections get sold. --------------------------------- My collection has grown a lot in the past several years. To the point it Is hard to keep track and store my coins. Also planning a move in the near future ... the thought of moving the collection a thousand miles is a lot of worry. ------------------ I did pick up a pair of 1968 proof sets .... two different type boxes. One box I had not seen before.
