I have been really enjoying myself, sorting through a big collection.

Some coins I brought home today

Lincoln-Cents-Errors

The penny haters might not like these .....

This first error Lincoln, I am thinking it had a large piece
of lamination break off after striking.

Lincoln-Cents-Errors

You can see it still had a small part of the rim around 8:30

I am thinking if this was PSD, the reverse would show some
sort of damage, but it doesn't.

Nice finds, agree pretty much with your assessments but #7 is questionable.

I am seeing now .. I should have posted this in the modern error section ...

I understand your thinking on #7 BadThad.
It is hard for me to imagine how this could have happened.

I wish I had kept the 2X2, it had something this ..
from same collection.

Lincoln-Cents-Errors

Of course that doesn't mean much.
I guess if it is not a known error .. than it could be PSD.

Nice batch!

I moved this into the Variety and Error sub-forum to catch certain eyes.

#7 is an indent strike, caused by the overlap of another planchet in the coining chamber at the time of striking. The mate would be a 90% OC obverse with a uniface reverse.

Thanks biokemist6 ...

#7
I got to thinking .. because of no damage to the reverse I
started thinking, what ever happened to the obverse must have happened in the die during strike.

I started thinking strike through .. your idea sounds more like what happened.

But ... if another coin was there wouldn't that area be more flat?
I can see where there is still rim on the affected area.
But the shape is more coin like.

I was trying to take better pictures while you were posting.
