Hey Guys..so I picked up some Kennedy half dollars today and was adding them into my book..when I came across a roll of toned rainbow looking ones. Should I put those in the book over the silver colored ones? The tones are from the 80's...they are really pretty..but I'm not all that familiar with toned coins in general. Thanks! :)

I'd keep that toned Kennedy separate. I dont know the what impact toning has on the grading value. I have a lot of Eisenhowers with that same blue tone, almost looks like they were manufactured blue. I presume the blue is natural toning.

One thing I love about displaying coins in an album is seeing the variations of the patina and toning of the coins.
Personally I would put the most attractive example of that date in the album. If it happens to be a toned coin then so be it.

While toning can increase the value of a coin, I would highly doubt it would be worth paying to have them graded. Coins are only worth as much as someone will pay for them. As far as what to put in your book, which do you like better? If you search halves often, and really do get a lot of toned halves, you might consider building a separate set of just toned coins.

I would save the toned coins, but keep them separate. I would put the un-toned ones in the book for the sake of consistency.

Save the toned ones. I have one from 1972 that is toned a bit. Also, does anyone know if Kennedy half dollars tone gold? I have a book of them and was looking through last night when I came across a 'gold' half. Any ideas?
