I wouldn't call these conserved, more like harshly cleaned. An acetone bath may have been enough for the 1949 and 1961. But the other two are so corroded they're fair game. I wonder how long that 1998 will stay shiny.

I think removing the moss and chewing gum is a step in the right direction. And I would compliment you on having the first lesson down pat. (Don't start with the Stellas.)
Thanks for sharing.

It was a real challenge for me ..

Description for the 4 coins
3 days in W-40 ( to remove the rust)
1 day in paint remover (I think it was crazy glue or a resin product
Rinsed with hot water and dish washing liquid
Cleaned with small cotton rag : Brasso
and for the finished touch : Silvo

I was with you up til the rag and Brasso.
In spite of the polishes, the 2 Georges and young Queen are nice for a circulation collection.

Oh I don't know . . Nobody would have kept them in their original state. Now they'll live on in posterity in his collection . .

all steps taken beyond WD40 (questionable in it's own right) will ruin 99% of value to any coin subjected to this treatment.

nothing lost by doing this to these cents, but please save yourself the heartache and don't try this on anything collectable.
