Hey all, Picked this one for $10. Pictures weren't the greatest and thought the obverse nick might be a hair, but no luck. Thoughts on grade and does it get stuck with "Details"? Thanks!

Nice pick-up, VF-30 or so. Surfaces do look a bid dead.

Very nice score for $10! VF20, but like the others said, surfaces may not be natural.

I'm wondering why no one is picking up on the color on this one. for a F/VF coin this color is way off. for one thing its the same throughout the entire coin both obverse and reverse and if you look at the dig to the right of the date its the same as the rest of the coin as well as all of the other nicks and scratches. all of the areas showing wear are also the same color. this doesn't make sense as this is a copper coin, that dig would not have the exact same color as the rest of the coin. just my opinion but I really think that the coin has been recolored.

After all, there's still some grime in the date and in that nick, and color difference in the cheek and hair/ribbon area--where I'd expect it do be. From my experience, IHCs do vary a lot in how they tone. I noticed the white balance setting for the camera is a bit off, which will certainly affect color on the coin. Here's what the obverse looks like with white balance adjusted for more natural color rendition. Personally, I would have no problem paying $10 for this coin.
