Sorry, the MM's are not something that I search because of my vision. So you will need to wait on the those searchers to join the post. On the reverse that does not look like a die crack to me maybe a die gouge or possible clash (if it is incuse then most likely a hit PSD) Looks raised though.

Looks like Machine damage to me. (RPM are not possible after 1990 when the mint marks are part of the design. Is the mark under the base, raised or incuse? If it is incuse (sunk into the coin) then it is a damaged coin.

Not sure on the answer to what's going on with the mm or the mark on the reverse. I'm doubting it's a DD, but honestly that's just an intuitive feeling I can't explain. Would you mind taking a few more pictures to show other elements of the obverse? Are you seeing anything else that would point to the raised mark on the reverse being a die clash? If so, pictures of those would be great, too.

The mark is raised on the reverse of the second coin. On the first coin... I found an example of the same mint mark on a coin described as DDO. On that coin which showed less wear than mine, there was doubling on the 9s as well, but the mm looks exactly the same. I think damage is obscuring the doubling on the nines on my coin. Thank you for your responses! Blair

The raised line below the stairs could have been caused by a gouge but I can't tell from the pic. The first visible stairs above that line look like they took a hit. Below those is a shadow and that's what makes me think it's just displaced metal from a hit.

Quote: RPM are not possible after 1990 when the mint marks are part of the design. Really no other explanation but die damage . I agree it resemble's DDO though. The reverse picture looks to me like a hit. PMD Imho

Hmm, I wonder what caused that. It's a heck of a die gouge if that's what it is. Maybe someone else will be able to find a better answer.

If I could have rotated cut out, it would fit exactly the missing area along the bottom. with Buddy, is the lower step that was hit and retained
