My father in law passed a few days ago and I was handed a can full of coins he had squirreled away over the years. I tripped over a large cent dated 1795. The obverse is fairly worn, but I can see the 1795 with little magnification and the Liberty. I can see the cap fully and the pole stem on the lower right. The "T" in LIBERTY appears to be above the crown of the hair.

On the reverse there are NO discernable details beyond the faint tracings of the wreath. I am interested in which version of the coin I might have and then helping my Mother in law to dispose for a fair price. Can anyone help me?

It is a liberty cap. The rest I can't help you with without photos.

Welcome to the CCF!

In this situation, quality pictures of both sides of the coin will be a must have!

I'm sure there are large cent experts here that can help you.

Look forward to your pics!

And also let us know if it has a plain or lettered edge.
