So I grabbed two coins that I was going through from my 25.00 box of circulated coins and found these two. I also bought a United States coins 2017 version and on page 125 I am looking at the difference of the two examples they have in there and they match the coins that I have. 1 large date and 1 small date. Interesting to see. I'm still confused cause I want to make sure I'm a right in what I am seeing.

They both look like the large date to me. From what I've read, the top of the '7' is below the other numbers on the large date. I also read that the curl of the '9' points to the bottom of the '7' on the large date. Don't take my word as gospel, wait until the ones who know chime in.

They look both Large Dates. 7 is lower than the 9 & 0
Take a straight piece of paper, put it touching the top of the 9 & 0, if the 7 touches the paper also it is Small Date, if the 7 is below the paper it is Large Date. Sometimes hard to tell where the end of the loop on the 9 is pointing.

My coin on the right side of my pic looks like the small date. To me it looks pretty even with the 0 and 9.

This one is always a bit tough. With the small date, the curve of the 9 points more towards the 7, while the curve of the 9 on the large date points toward the mint mark. Also, LIBERTY will be weak on the small date.

Looking at your pics, it does appear that both of your coins are of the large date variety. Please look at the image someone posted for you that shows the two varieties. As others have mentioned, there are pretty much two key diagnostics to determine large or small varieties. First - The inside curl of the "9" is usually always curved more inward/higher up on the small date. Second - as mentioned by Rick Snow - The word "Liberty" is usually found a bit flatter and mushy on small dates, and more crisp and bold on the large date variety. Then of course the high/low "7" in the date is helpful as well. Hope my bit of information helps as well!
