to the community.

I can't tell what it is either. You might be able to remove some of the dirt, it would help a bit.

Venetian Bagattino (1/12 Soldo), obverse is R. C. L. A. (Regina Coeli Laetare Alleluia) - Madonna facing w/child, reverse is Lion of St. Mark in a square with a star to either side. The exergue on the obverse will have the mintmaster's initials, looks like M something. These were made approx. 1520-1630. They are called "anonymous" issues because the name of the doge is not stated -- Venice had 22 doges during this period alone.

See, for instance, https://www.deamoneta.com/auctions/view/80/273

I'm always amazed at the expertise of this forum. Well played paralyse.

Abishua
Welcome. I'm a bit jealous you are capable of finding such coins in your backyard. In my backyard here in the southern USA I only find old beer cans and shotgun shells.

@Abishua, first welcome to CCF, Second, interesting coins that you have. However, best practice is to start a new thread with each coin that you have to post. You'll definitely get more eyeballs on it that way.

The pearl diadem signifies an emperor.
The style of portrait places it later 4th century
The reverse appears to be emperor raising up a female with his extended hand.
These three clues lead me to believe it is Constantius II.
I could be wrong ! There were several others who issued this reverse type.
Without the mint mark it makes the job a bit more difficult.
It is in rough shape so the value is minor.

Most likely a REPARATIO REIPVB AE-2 type, but it's hard to tell which emperor.

I agree. Sometimes it makes me feel silly posting a '40s LWC for grading, etc.

But, in a good way! I'm constantly impressed with the knowledge here. I've been holding out on an "ancient" to post for opinions but may shortly.
