I just got a mixed hoard of cash coins and as a novice, I'm having fun trying to identify them.
This one however, has me stumped. It may be seal script.

Dia 21.5 mm
Wt 1.20 gm
thickness 0.5 mm

That it is so thin, makes me think that it was made under modern controlled conditions.
I have no close matches in my search.
Any advise is appreciated.

Older than Ching Dynasty, so not sure. Does look genuine, note cast point on left obverse pix and the rounding on the center "hole", seems spent some time carried on a leather thong. Could be wrong, but does look real, (pre 1644) Check this reference:

Don't rule out Japanese, Korean or some others, characters could be the same, just pronounced in different languages

Hmm, can't find in my Hartill, although got a match for two of the four characters in a few varieties from the Northern Song Dynasty. Hopefully, one of the experts will be around soon to set us all straight.

If it's defining characteristic is "it's so thin", then my first guess would be a Vietnamese unofficial cash, or "floater". The first coin on this website seems to be a good match for your coin: An Phap Nguyen Bao (or in Chinese: An Fa yuan bao). Apparently, it's an unofficial copy of a coin issued earlier in Vietnam's history.

Thanks to all. Lots of good information to check out.
It seems as though I've jumped into the deep end of the pool once again.
And it appears I was wrong about the thickness being an attribute of modern technology.
