It seems that almost every day we get a new member that posts a suspicious topic with only 1 to 5 total posts. They may be honest posts but I get this funny feeling that there is a percentage that are potential trolls or scammers.

Some topics that would be similar to what I am talking about but not actual topics might look like:

A. I have this coin I found and want to sell it
B. Is this ( stolen image ) worth anything?
C. A pawn shop offered me $50 for this Indian head gold coin.
D. Thinking of selling an inherited coin collection.

You get the idea. This is a typical scammers MO to get money and send nothing to a member here who wants a deal that sounds too good to be true. A naïve reader might think, I will contact this guy with an offer that will make him happy and I'll get a fantastic deal.
They exchange contact info and buyer sends money and then gets ripped off.

Well, if nothing can be done, that's fine but I at least will post this to raise awareness that this does go on.
Maybe a sticky on the subject could be written up about scammers or perhaps new members might need to be restricted to a certain area for maybe 50 posts? I don't know, I just think it goes on. Most of us know better but the scammers still try. It isn't good for new coin collectors, and it isn't good for CCF.

I would think, that any member eligible for B/S/T, would, or should , be aware of the rules for selling.

If they try to circumvent the rules, let the chips fall where they may.

All you have to do is use the report link and the Staff will do whatever is appropriate.

I can tell you that there is very little of this. We are on top of everything. Please use the report link to show me one you think is suspicious as soon as you can.

I tend to be a suspicious character myself. I lean to the more skeptical side of things I guess.
I have encountered scammers on a number of occasions in the cyber world and it might just be the way I look at things.

Thanks for the responses and for keeping a close eye on things. The next time I see something that looks extra shady to me as one of these posts, I will report it for you guys to decide.
I have to try to remember that there are completely uninformed and new people out there who come here all the time to find out what they might have.

FYI - CCF is usually at the top or toward the top of most Google searches, so it is very common that CCF is their first site when researching. I mean, don't give out your credit card info to a new member, but give them some leeway

@TNG, in my experience with reporting scam posts to Bobby, they get taken away *very* fast.

Agree with fuzzy that there are a lot of coins out there that people have stashed and as others come across them, they do a Google search and end up posting here.
