I finally figured out how to activate my E-Bucks on ebay a while ago. As a result I got an email saying I have some to ready to redeem.

Now I have seen several different answers to this so I am confused.

Can you currently redeem your E-Bucks on coins?

Thanks...Mont

Yup. I spent my uber rich $0.50 ebay Bucks yesterday towards a coin. They make you pay using the PayPal option though. If you still want to use a credit card for the points there, click PayPal and change "payment method" or "preferred method of payment" (or whatever they call it) to "credit card ending in XXXX." I'm not sure what the default PayPal method is, mine was either PayPal balance or direct from a linked bank account.

You can buy coins as long as they are NOT listed in the "bullion" category. So if you are going to buy an ASE make sure it is listed in "dollars" category instead of "bullion".

Correct. On a non-bullion coin purchase, your ebay Bucks should appear automatically as an offset at checkout. Remember, these must be used within a 30-day period, so don't dawdle.

The poorly written ebay bucks policy reads--

Your qualifying spend (purchase) is made...

"excluding the following categories:"

(one of which is)
"Coins & Paper Money, but only for Bullion within that category."

Yes - like I stated earlier - ONLY for bullion - you want to use your Ebucks stay out of the BULLION category.

ebay bucks have less restrictions than ebay gift cards (yes, I know this is not directly on subject).

ebay gift cards (not talking about ebay Bucks) can NOT be used for:

"coins, paper money, virtual currency, or items generally considered to be "bullion" (for example, gold, silver, and other precious metals in the form of coins, bars, or ingots)."

With ebay gift cards and ebay Bucks, you can buy a gold watch, but not gold bars.

Can you think of a valid reason for ebay to restrict ebay Bucks and ebay Gift cards in this manner?

I used my Ebucks to buy silver rounds from JM Bullion.
