Yesterday I went through the McDonalds drive-thru in Atchison, KS. I ended up with nine cents of change, which I pocketed without examining.

When I got home, I emptied my pockets as I usually do for the daily coin check. The nine cents was all I got yesterday, but what a nine cents it was!

1944-S Nickel
1920-D Penny
1968-D Penny
1965 Penny
1981-D Penny

I've never received a War Nickel in change before, and the 1920 is the oldest coin in my collection by far.

One of the customers ahead of me must have been dumping grandpa's old coin collection.

Imagine if you had gotten 10 cents of change for your chicken nuggets!

I didn't check the coins until I got home, which is 45 miles away, so it wasn't practical to go back.

LOL, no. I didn't drive 45 miles to visit McDonald's. I was in town visiting a friend and stopped at McD on the way home.

I hadn't been to a McDonald's in more than five years, but some coupons came in the mail the other day. I thought I would give it a try and they reminded me why I hadn't been there in five years. The pattie in the quarterpounder was dry and chewy, but the fries were ok. I guess they still make the food ahead of time and keep it warm (and dry) until served.
