Hi guys, Well my novice coin ignorance has cost me some $$. I recently ran this posting on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/16244159536....m1559.l2649Hopefully you will be able to access the original auction at the link above. Anyway, please look at the original photos and see if you can spot my mistake. Can anyone tell me what my coin SHOULD have sold for if I listed it correctly? Did my buyer get a screaming deal or what? Anyway, I can post the original photos here if the link above doesn't work. Live and learn!

When did you notice that your coin was an "s" mint?

I noticed after he started getting antsy about "did it ship yet" and "do you have a tracking #?" etc. so I started wondering why this guy thought he got such a great deal. So I went back and got out my photos and my " Red Book" and discover that there was an "S" under that spot of corrosion! Even at G-4 it's supposedly worth $450 ! Yikes! So what is a very corroded coin like this rated at and what's it worth? I think it's forgivable that I didn't notice the "S". It's pretty obscured.

Thanks nfine. Well it's not much of a loss as it was my roommates coin and neither one of us knew what it was worth/what we had. Neither of us bought the coin and who knows where he got it. I doubt he paid anything for it either. So $26 is better than nothing for a coin that we both thought was crap. It's just frustrating that, had I been more knowledgeable, I could have gotten 10x that much for it. Oh well, you live and you learn, right?

Ouch! Sorry about that. It just goes to show that you never know what you will run across on ebay.

Would you please post a pics of the obverse and reverse of the coin? I think your coin might already be relisted on ebay. Current bid is $100.

The buyer has relisted the coin as an auction. The coin is already at $100.

I'd guess $150 to $175 as well. It's tough to see the S but it is there.

No vetarun, I did not shaft the original buyer. The original buyers name is Roger Smale, user name sanfranciscocoins, my user name is d-ttrain. As soon as I gave him the tracking number and confirmed that I did drop it off at the post office he probably listed it using my photos. There is a link to my original listing with the photos so you can compare them yourself. BTW, I'm a veteran myself and I resent the suspicion that I may have screwed over the other buyer. Look at my 100% positive ebay feedback rating of 480 ratings. You don't get that by messing with over your buyers.

Yes Zurie, you can compare his pics with the pics in my listing (in the first message) and you will see that the pics are the same. #*$%#$
I think I'll send him a message saying "hey, nice coin! Where did you get it?" LOL!
