I agree - "D" sure looks weird. A picture that is a little more in focus would really help.

FYI - valid date/mintmark die positions for 1914-d - only mintmark with right hand angle is #2

At first I also thought the D was strange until I saw #2 MM position . Pretty sure it's genuine . G-06 .
