You do know by showing the Certificate # we can look it up, right? Where's the fun in that!?

May I be so blunt to ask why would you pay all the fees involved with a PCGS grading for a 1964 1c, that although looks very nice, does not strike me as an ms66 or ms67?

Can't figure that our either, but I'll say 66RD.

65 or maybe 65+. I'd be surprised if it were 66 or higher.

I checked the grade on the PCGS website and I don't agree, but then again, I'm certainly not the all-knowing and all-mighty PCGS.

Maybe the slab wars are taking its' toll on PCGS and they're inflating like their enemy?
Lucked out on that grade...

Beautiful luster on this coin. I love the reverse side. On the obverse, Elizabeth appears to be keeping an eye on the small carbon spot developing in the A of GRATIA. That's a bit distracting, so I would say MS-64.

All any TPG cert provides is an opinion. It's up to you to decide if that opinion is in line with reality, and if the eye appeal of a full red cent is worth an extra two grading points over it's technical merits. I imagine it's flashy like a diamond in hand. That said, I've examined an ICCS MS-67, and it's surfaces were very nearly flawless.

Thanks for your opinions all.
Why did I send it in? Two reasons: needed a coin to fill a submission slot and needed this coin for my registry set.
Grade I expected was 65RD shot at 66. The spot at A of GRATIA is not as dark as shown in photo. The lustre really pops when looking at the coin in hand.
PCGS MS67RD
