I got to be first to go through a bag of mostly Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantine) bronzes today, and selected this one. Insofar as identifying it, however, I'm swinging at a pitch way out of my strike zone. I see "TIBER" clearly enough on the obverse. I'm reading the reverse as "Year 12" and the mint mark as signifying it was struck at Constantinople.

It's good sized at about 30mm in diameter. Weight comes in at just under 11 grams.

The wildwinds link is an old server. So if no one is using it you have to hit it and then try again to wake it up in Sweden.

Thank you, that appears to be the correct identification as to the emperor. It looks like the legend on mine reads (MA)"VRICI TIbER PP A", so I think it may actually be SB495.

A nice example of Maurice Tiberius, the regnal year and indicated year on the coin are the same so this would be from 593/4.

It turns out this particular specimen fits perfectly (as in no sideways rattle) in a #T30 Airtite - what are the chances?
