Being on the extreme East Coast, the majority of the MMs I find are Philly's and then Denvers with a very occasional S mint. I am referring to circulated coins, naturally, and the S mint coins are pre-proof only, so 1968 and older. They are so unusual, I keep every one of them separate.

My question for all of the guys on the "West Coast" is, how does your MMs on circulated coins break out? Are the vast majority of your circulated coins S mint marks? I guess I am wondering just how much interest I should even be putting into them. Are you all doing the same thing I am with the Philly coins?

Jim Sorry, and the 1971

I live in California, very close to San Francisco, and I don't find them that often. Maybe like one every 2 weeks or so, but I still keep them. Keep in mind that this is just from change, not roll searching...

Hey, 77. When you say you don't find them, did yo mean S MM or Philly coins?

Jim,
The last box I got had zero copper coins, and therefore no S-cents! Must be the silly "copper bullion" craze.
However, I have had boxes in the past month where each roll contains an easy 20% S-cents from 68-74. One box had a 70-S in each roll, but no SDs of course!

Kurt, is the majority of what you get, then, Denver MMs and what percentage of a roll would you guess is Philly coins?

Jim, it used to be more than half was SF coins, but that's fading of course.
My last zinc box of course was 90% D and the rest P.

I also live in the Bay Area. I see mostly D mints when I search boxes. Older P mints (pre 1980) should up in good numbers, as do S mints. New P mints (mid 80s - present) are quite uncommon.

I haven't gotten skunked by a box of all zinc coins yet, but it's probably only a matter of time.

I wonder what the difference is between the east and west coast. I have never even come close to not finding copper in a box. I have averaged 20%+ and it is very consistent. In fact, the worst roll I have ever had was 5 coppers. I think Kurt said that he just got skunked on a box. What is the diff?

I don't have exact numbers, but I was roll searching alot through the winter. Very rarely maybe 1 or 2 coins in a $25 box will be a P MM.

I have gotten about 30 1969 S and 1970 S coins in the last few months, which was surprising, different bank boxes, different banks.

I do find a good number of 1940-50's Denver wheats in my searches latley, I live in rural area that is mainly logging and ranching, we finally have a small credit union in town now that is open 3 days a week and I have been getting a good number of wheats from there.

Hi, widow. I love Idaho and had a chance to go there with my career yrs ago and opted for the East Coast instead. Sometimes wish I hadn't.
