Pictures too small (each 2 inches diameter on my screen), for me to accurately grade each one.
At MS 63 to 5, detracting marks are necessarily quite minor, and usually quite small.
A TPGrader would use a 10x hand held loupe.

For me to give an answer, it would have to be somewhat of a guess.
For those who may wish to proceed, and increase the accuracy of their guess, help may be found with the PCGS Photograde on line grading guide.

From what I can see in the pictures, #3 has the cleanest cheek without damages. So I say #3.

The REVs are very hard to tell from the lighting angles. However, I also am not an expert grader.

And... I also know how inconsistent the ART of grading can be as attested to even here on CFF by many threads. So depending on whether or not the graders had sugar in their morning coffee the day they graded these gems (nice lot, BTW), the MS65 could be any of them.

In other words, and although I may end up eating crow, I would not be surprised if you made this thread with the intent of showing inconsistency in the system.

Similarly, I would not be surprised if you had posted only MS64s, but had asked which were MS63s, that some would have been chosen as being MS63.

#1. Not the prettiest coin but it's clean and has a chance.

I see #3 as it. Followed closely by #1. If the first one didn't have staining then it's a 65.

Try clicking the photos. They should appear larger.

According to NGC, #1 is graded MS65. nfine got it right.
However, #3 looks close MS65 also, IMHO.

IMO, #3 is the prettiest. Maybe not the highest grade, but the prettiest.

It was middle of the night and I got too lazy to take another picture of the upside down photo.

My camera setup will be ready in about a week. Taking photos should be much easier.

So...

Some legitimate questions to ask:

1. Is #3 really MS64 or not?

2. Is #1 really MS65 or not?

3. Is the combined input of several collectors wrong b/c a slab says so?

4. Would the TPG ever give you details why they graded one coin as MS65 or MS64 (accountability)?

5 It looks like most of us preferred the "lower graded" number 3. So which coin [red]really[red] has more literal value to hobbyists?

6. Are the values associated with the numbers, therefore, as accurate as the masses take them to be (put their faith in the TPGs opinions)?

7. Are the above questions actually answerable in the real world?

This interesting thread exemplifies words of wisdom I learned from this forum... buy the coin, not the slab.

@earle42

Of course we might have different opinions from what TPG graded. These were purchased many years ago and I probably purchased them weighting at the price, appearance, & grade, in that order.

I do enjoy and value opinions & knowledge from this forum and appreciate the participations. Also learning more and more as I go. It's addictive.
