Anyway, so yesterday I visited a flea market and bought a bunch of nice coins.

I already posted the weird monogram AE; this Prague groschen was another $2 purchase (well, actually I bought two for $5, and already identified the other one as Wencezlaus Tercius, i.e. Wenceslas IV).

However, all the real Prague groschens I could find had a lot more letters in the center legend, and all the imitations I could find didn't have such a similar design.

So, um, anyone has any idea what this is?
(If the answer is "too worn to tell", I'll accept that, but there might well be some way.)

Obverse. Note the unusually short central legend (and the outer legend also looks too widely spaced).

Reverse. Note the Bohemian lion (which isn't there on many of the imitations).

If it's important, the diameter is 26 mm. Didn't try to weigh it, sorry.

[EDIT: after carefully looking at the legend again, might well be another Wenceslas IV with several letters weakly struck.
If so, sorry for disturbing you all, but posting this thread anyway because I didn't realize that until the thread was almost ready.]

@J1M, that is a really interesting pick-up. Could you please measure the diameter? It most likely has been clipped and/or excessively worn, but I'm wondering how close it is to the 27 mm or so that it should be.

Also, I'm wondering why you think Prague over Kutna Hora for the mint. Or are you maybe saying "Prague Groshen" in a more generic sense?

Finally, once you get some good light from the sun, I'd love to see the other piece that you picked up for comparison purposes. Maybe a pic of that one too? Thx.

The diameter is 26 mm, as mentioned. Might indeed have been clipped, but only slightly.

I'm using "Prague groschen" in a generic sense. Did they make them somewhere other than Kutna Hora?

And if you want pics of the other one... why not. (It appears to be cleaned though, but this is probably normal for something that came from the 15th century.)

(Sorry for the awful photos, still smartphone camera. And, yes, it's also ridiculously worn. 27 mm, by the way.)

Ok yes sorry that I didn't notice the diameter previously. While pretty worn, I think that you have the attributions nailed down for this pair of groshen. Nice!
