Well, I see what look to be areas of rust, so let's start with the simplest test. Does a magnet stick to it? If so, it's a modern ferrous "replica". Quote: I found this draped bust 1795... The precise circumstances might lend necessary context to how likely it'd be that it's genuine.

I'd have to say it's fake personally, but I also have to say its far from the worst fake I've ever seen. Does anyone know if these types of counterfeits' have any sort of value because of their quality?

Your coin is known as the "Vampire". It is a deceptive counterfeit that is easily identified by the 2 fang marks at Liberty's throat. You can see another one of these counterfeits pictured and talked about here: https://www.NGCcoin.com/boards/topi...bust-dollar/

Thank so everyone! Yea I figured the odds of me finding a real one were slim to none but there's always that slight chance it could happen so I wanted to make sure, it's still a pretty cool coin to me lol is there anyway to find out how old the coin is? Just wondering when it was faked

@snoverby, first welcome to CCF. Second, based on the info in that NGC link, it would have been made prior to 2013 (unless, of course, the Chinese are now counterfeiting their counterfeits...) There is no way to know the exact date, but I'd feel pretty confident saying much much closer to 1995 than 1795 AD.

First: Second: I agree with the common sentiment here: the coin you posted is not genuine. I'm sorry.

I think that this is a fairly recent counterfeit. The Chinese have been making them for at least 10 years. This one was copied from a genuine coin, but the relief is not right on the reverse.

POCCC, from the People's Republic. Looks like it is the very rare April 2017 import version . Will this stuff ever end.

It will end with the cost of business (fines, penalties, etc) exceeds the profit.
