Do you think it's 2x2 worthy? Is it a MAD on both sides?
Opinions welcome. Thanks in advance.

What does the reeds on the edge look like? Something doesn't look right on this one.
Rest in Peace

The olive leaf that partially covers the torch has a little something extra below it.

Here are some pics of the edge. Best I can do since I can't focus stack. 3/6/9/12 o'clock respectively, as viewed with obv towards you.

Buddy, I think that's a ding...may be able to get a better pic if I work at it. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

That is one odd coin! The obverse is more haunted than the reverse. Whatever you do, don't stare at Franklin's face too long.

They look a bit altered to me. If you put a normal new coin on top and bottom of the edge images, I bet you would be surprised?

Here is a pic of the edges of (3) 2000P dimes. The top dime is the original that started this thread. The middle and bottom are two more I found today to use for comparison. The edges are at the 3oclock position when viewing coins from the obverse.

What exactly am I looking at/for to determine if the original was altered Does the pic help?

Also, it's weird that the copper/silver color are not consistently either on top or bottom of coin.

Note the thickness of the middle coin. That is what they should start out looking like. The top and bottom ones looks like they have beat up pretty bad. Note the distortion on the center of the reeds? That tells me that the coin was squashed at one time. On cents and nickels you will see an area pinched in in the center of the edge of the coin when this happens.

So I'm still leaning towards this dime as being damaged. When the coin was new the rims should raised over the devices. Some areas on your coin the rims are flat looking. But thanks for the extra images.
