Hi Everyone, I've never done this before and I could use some help.i am a novice collector of curious things. Coins being one of those things.i have three silver Roosevelt dimes or at least appear to be silver. All three have no mint marks. Hard to search through all the information on line to get a real idea of whether they have any value.i would appreciate some wisdom. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

to the forum! Unfortunately they are all business strike, non silver dimes. Anything pre1965 is 90% silver. Nickels are silver 35% from 1942-1945. Halves from 1965-1970 are 40% silver.

First, welcome to CCF! Second: Quote: whether they have any value Only ten cents each. You could safely spend them or keep them because they do have a somewhat interesting surface roughness to them.

to the forum! Yes, these dimes are just regular 10 cent dimes.

Answering the only unanswered bit: the lack of a mint mark indicates that they were minted at the Philadelphia mint. No Philly coins bore a mint mark until 1979 ( Susan B. Anthony dollar), and the other denominations aside from the cent had mint marks added in 1980. 2017 is the first year that a cent minted in Philadelphia bore a mint mark.

@Eclectic 1, I can see the edge of one of the dimes (1968) and I think that they have been silver-plated. At least you noticed that they were "like" your silver dimes. Keep them if you like or just spend them.

You moderator need to say where you move posts from so others can go to that forum subject. There might be something interesting in that forum we can get in on. Thanks

dollarcoinman, that don't matter where it was posted prior to being moved by the Mods. Sometimes people, especially new members post coin questions in the intro forum, or token question in the ancients section. Those of us who specialize or have an interest in specific forums check those often. It is where you find the real experts, on ancients or like mine, US errors. Thingabbouddit!

Was just asking fuzzy for the subject of where he/she brought it from. I might be interested in the subject topic. Maybe fuzzy can help me where you didn't.
