XF Details, polished shiny as a mirror. I don't understand how people think its acceptable to try to "clean" coins like this.

Look at the details in the eagle's neck feathers and on liberty's hair. Yes: The left wing, talons and reverse rims look soft but I think it's a strike issue, NOT rub. Before the polishing I think this coin would grade xf-45 - au-50. This series is really tough to grade due to the nuances in strikes from year to year.

Quote: The left (to the observer) wing has very worn detail. The denticles on the reverse are very worn. I cannot see an AU piece here..... what you are seeing is from a soft strike. MikeF is correct. AU details. Hair, hat, date, liberty, reverse lettering and shield are too strong for an XF grade.
