vf20. lots of detail in certain areas, but heavily worn down on the LIBERTY in obv, and head of eagle. Wear is very uneven, so the coin is suspect, the wear may not be entirely from circulation and may have been tampered.

VF25/30. reverse does not appear to be struck up fully causing the disparity in the two sides. I dont believe you are going to lose that much detail from one side to the other in a normal circulation situation. I'm looking at the obverse when it would be in my album so I wouldnt be worried it. Nice pickup of a rarer piece.

VF-25 with average eye appeal. It's not the best struck example of the 1875-CC, but it's not the worst either. This issue is often weak at the tope of the eagle's left wimg and the corrisponding area on the obverse, on the sheild in the area of the "LIBERTY."

Here it is. It seems like TPGs relax their standards on this series. Is it because of poor strikes?

The grade looks about 10 points too high but what do I know. My batting average is falling lately.

We could be getting it wrong due to too much magnification. The coins I've been posting recently are 'blown up' and the community tends to undergrade them. The obverse of this coin does look much better when resized back down by the original poster.

Edit: on a side note, this looks like a Great Collections or David Lawrence pic which I'm not a fan of.

I was at VF-35. There is luster in the protected areas, which is usually gone below EF-40, and almost always gone below VF-30.

Keep in mind that the letters are raised on the 20¢ instead of incuse like on all of the seated Liberty types. It will wear away much sooner.
