Seeking Help To Attribute A World Countermark On An 1848 US Half Dollar

ExoGuy Pillar of the Community United States 4415 Posts	Posted 05/26/2017 9:15 pm Having collected U.S. merchant counterstamps for many years now, I've never paid much attention to world countermarks. A buddy has asked me for help to attribute the below mark, and I'm unable to identify it. I suspect that it may be connected to some British possession, but that's just a guess on my part. I'm hopeful that a student of world coinage may be able to peg this countermark for us .... Report this Post to the Staff

Spence Moderator United States 34398 Posts	Posted 05/26/2017 9:40 pm @exoguy, that is an interesting one. To me, it looks most like the monogram used by King Frederick VII of Denmark. I believe that 1848 was the year that he ascended to the throne.
