Back in the 1970s as a kid I collected US coins and put them in cardboard flips. 40+ years later I notice that the plastic in these flips has broken down in places allowing air to hit parts of the coins. See image below

What should I do? Pull them out and let them tarnish evenly? Will that happen? I assume coin cleaning is still a big no-no, but the uneven tarnish really hurts their appeal.

I collect ancients now so have lost touch with what the general rules are with US coins. I'd appreciate your advice. Feel free to stop by the Ancients and Medieval forum where the cool kids hang out http://goccf.com/f/51

Anything you do other than putting them in new flips will lower the value of the coins. Just reholder them and move on.
Rest in Peace

Looks like poor storage of those 2x2's is the problem .
Take the coins out and put them in new 2x2's , don't do anything about the toning .Make sure you store them in a environmentally safe location . Oh , and flatten those staples .

The coins are in such low grades, that I don't think anything you do to them will make them any worse off.

As I see the pictures, I would just accept the coins as they are.
