Ok here is a fairly well struck 1929 D Lincoln Cent. What would you grade this? What would you value it? Thanks

VF20, mebbe you paid five to 20 cents for a VF coin that averages about 35 to 60 cents in value?

I can detect wear only slightly on the high points, so I grade it at AU50. appears to have very few distracting marks and original color making it a very nice coin indeed! Approx. value $14

Looks AU to me. I'd be curious if that verdigris on the obverse bottom could be gently removed though.

Thanks for the input. I also thought AU. I paid 20 cents. I bought it in a roll

I also think it deserves at least AU-50. There is almost no sign of wear. I am curious about that mark at the hair line above Abe's forehead. It looks like something scraped upward into Abe's hair, creating a little raised lip of metal. Or, maybe that's an as-struck feature?

I would give it an AU50-55. No clue on the value since my Greysheet is in the car.

How do you all reckon it's AU with the rim wear on the reverse?

and the wear on the wheat ears?

Look at Lincoln's cheek, it's almost perfect. The rims are one of the last things to wear on a Lincoln. Also note the high quality of ONE CENT, just a single mark. Don't mistake wheathead wear for a worn die, which is the case with this coin's reverse.

One question,
What's going on on the reverse rim, from about 11 oclock clockwise around to about 4 oclock? Maybe a little offset to boot? Nice coin!

I would say about EF40. The reasons are that the reverse has a lot of wear at the bottom at the rim and the stalks are starting to round a little bit. On the obverse there are two noticeable nicks in the suit and from the ear to the shoulder look a bit flat without a lot of detail. The hair and face are very well defined but the beard starts to go flat as well. No matter how you look at it, it is a great coin for $0.20.

I would grade it as AU, but were I to buy it I wouldn't spend anymore than low end XF price. For my personal collection I don't make a distinction between wear and strike.

Also AU-50. Nice for a circulated coin. I think the weakness in the rev. bottom rim is partially due to the offset of the top that JohnAP mentioned.
