I'm thinking this is a weak strike, which occurs relatively often for 1916 according to Q. David Bowers. I will say AU-55.

Slightest rub at high points looks 55. Lovely mellow uncleaned surfaces. Even for common dates, Barber quarters maintain sufficient interest to make those no problem almost uncirculated examples desirable. Nice snatch. Congratulations.

53/55-. I see significant rub on eagle's head, neck, wings, tips, and right talon. The shield is weakly struck and has little detail. Obverse has lots of hits and shows faint wipe marks. Market acceptable. Lots of luster, and attractive eye appeal.

This has been graded at AU55 by ANACS. It is currently being offered by the seller for $155(or BO) plus $9.00 shipping/handling. I feel this is overpriced especially with the shipping fees. I have made a couple of offers(up to $135 w/o shipping) but they have been declined. Numismedia has FMV @ $150. Any thoughts?
