NGC - Co-owner of famous Las Vegas pawn shop is the latest to join the popular NGC Authentic Hand-Signed Labels program.

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®) has announced that television personality Rick Harrison has agreed to individually autograph a limited number of NGC certification labels.

Harrison is co-owner of the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn, in Las Vegas, Nevada, which he runs with his father and son. The family business is the subject of the popular cable television show "Pawn Stars," now in its 14th season, that has led to international fame for the Harrisons.

"Pawn Stars" features expert evaluations of historical objects and lively negotiations with would-be sellers. One of the experts to appear on the show is David Vagi, Director of NGC Ancients.
Vagi's appearances prompted Harrison to visit NGC's Sarasota, Florida, headquarters in January 2015. Harrison toured NGC's facility and then traveled to the Florida United Numismatists (FUN) Convention, where he signed autographs for fans at NGC's booth.

NGC Rick Harrison Authentic Hand-Signed Labels are the latest collaboration between the coin grading service and the famous Pawn Star. NGC-certified coins encapsulated with these labels will be available from GovMint.com this summer.

"We are always happy to have a chance to work with the team at NGC, and I am excited to be among those highly recognized names in the coin industry who have lent their names to labels with this trusted brand," says Harrison.
"NGC is honored that Rick Harrison has agreed to take our collaboration to the next level by autographing NGC certification labels," says Miles Standish, NGC Vice President. "He has a lot of fans in numismatics, and we expect coins encapsulated with NGC labels individually signed by Harrison to be very popular collectibles."

Harrison joins NGC's impressive list of label signers, including Kenneth Bressett, the longtime editor of A Guide Book of United States coins (the " Red Book"); the Hon. Gov. Mike Castle, the congressman who helped launch the 50 State Quarters Program; and John M. Mercanti, the 12th Chief Engraver of the US Mint and designer of the American Silver Eagle reverse.

I'll offer him 40% of the value since I'll have to call in an expert, validate the certification, package and advertise the item and it'll probably sit in my collection for a while before someone makes an offer.

Might seem ridiculous, but slap his signature on the label of a generally slower selling inventory I bet they clear it out for rather quickly. I'm sure even commoditized Morgans like they've done with the Old Man's Hoard slabs they sell at the shop will see a premium. Sounds like some great capitalism. Regarding the 1877 CC $20 show in the ad, I'm not sure it will command a premium as its already a pricey coin, but it might sell faster and that would certainly be of value to the seller.

I have a friend who is an expert on "artificially inflated prices for already valuable items" let me give him a call.
Friend: Wow. A signed NGC holder. very nice. What are your concerns?
Ric: I am just not sure if the signature is genuine.
Friend: You have good reason to be worried. There are many forgeries out there. Let's have a look. See how that signature is a non-descript scribble. It ends with a flourish. In my opinion this signature is .................100%.............genuine.
Ric: OK. So what would you say such a coin is worth considering the grading, and signature?
Friend: All things considered, I would say in an auction it could fetch upwards of $20,000!
Ric: Thanks for your help.
Ric: so how much are you willing to take for it. I'll give you $4,000 and a used tissue.

I'm thinking that's where most of the value comes from.

Is that label reserved for the ones he doesn't send to the smelter ASAP?
