Hello peoples, (and others?) I started actually learning about numismatics during July last year. My grandpa passed away, who'm I didn't really understand as a person, and while cleaning out his apartment we came across his coins (It hurts thinking of what quality could've been retained with the coins if he properly stored them x.x). So as a result of wanting to understand him and the things he liked a little more, I got absorbed into watching tons of youtube videos and channels about coins.
Introspecting after I've learned about numismatics has made me learn/realize a lot. I think numismatics is something everyone should teach their children and learn on their own, due to the level of awareness, and concentration it requires to find errors, sort your coins, and properly research. Plus it'd be nice to never have to look back and realize you've probably thrown 100,000$ into a coin star stupidly...
when my Grandfather passed a few years ago, we tried to find a rumored collection, but never found it. Either he cashed it in, or a cousin "found" some money when he was staying with my grandparents.
