I buy a number of my coins from a respectable dealer in my area but, I asked him if he cleans his coins and he kinda advoids the subject saying leav the cleanign to the professionals or that he "dips" his silver coins if they are illegable. I have boughten a number of proofs from him and some rare 3 cent peices for about hwta pcgc prices them. And then I also sometimes buy from ebay but nothing over 50 bucks from what I bought from them only a few "cheap" rare coins that coin enough be fakes but not sure. I want to send them in but 16 bucks * a 5 coin minimum (from NGC) isn't worth for coins I bought for 5 bucks what should I do?

I think we've got to see some pictures of these coins. I'm extremely curious as to what the "rare" Three Cent coins look like. If you don't have pictures, could you describe them?

Post pics of them up RIGHT HERE ON THIS FORUM !.......
My friend, there are A LOT of people here who are experts in all kinds of areas with coins relating to "cleaning", or "Dipped coins", values as to what you have, if you got a fair deal or not, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.....and can give you some smart/accurate advice as to THIS dealers practices based on what he's sold you or "told" you.
Just provide some pics and more information........sending them off to NGC may not be necessary at all.
And fellow member "Prethen" is a specialist in 3CN's (as well as others)...find him here and check his profile and contact him for those........but again, pics would be massive in helping you !

If you are paying PCGS guide prices, you are paying too much. If the coins were overgraded or cleaned, then you're getting ripped.

I agree, the PCGS price guide is for PCGS graded coins only and in some series of coins they are way to high with their prices, so if you are paying those prices for ungraded examples then your dealer is ripping you off and if they are cleaned or badly dipped they will never make it in a PCGS holder so you really paid to much

If he's making your pay PCGS prices for them, then never go to him again. He's overcharging you and he's probably selling cleaned coins too since he avoids the subject. As others suggest, post photos up here and we'll help you determine if you should send them in to NGC.

Well if he was scared off, at least he has more knowledge about his dealer ripping him off! Definitely stay away from that dealer lol.

Well I am unable to post the pictures do to bad quality BUT I can get better pictures this weekend. The coins look legit I paid 9 bucks for the 3 cent peice and very reasonable prices on the others He is NGC and PCGS certified but I'm afraid he cleans them, I have 2 proofs from him and they have no scratches on them what so ever. I never paid more then 30 bucks on a coin from him unless it was my chinese pandas. I'm not to fond of the whole cleaning thing so I'm not sure

Don't send in any of those coins to be graded. I think your just buying coins to have more of a veriety in your collection, which is good. But they are not worth much. Enjoy them and learn about them first. Then buy something more worthwhile to be graded.

Post the pictures of the ones you want to send. If you have a scanner you can just use that as taking pictures of coins is not easy. However I am slowly learning from the photography section.

And WELCOME to the forum.
