This coin could transform your life. Ask your spouse or partner to get you one!

How many times have you been asked to mow the lawn, wash the car or fix that shelf in the bathroom, and you have replied "I will do that as soon as I get a round duit!"

Imagine trying to buy a drink for a woman at this bar and the bartender hands her this token...

The token is from Lansford, PA, if you're curious.

Finally an explanation to end the debate over which animal adorns Fraser's nickel design... Interestingly, it boils down to a specific taste in music.

FYI: The "wearing green" comment at the bottom refers to the uniforms of the Marshall University "Thundering Herd" football team.

I understand the joke, but this subject is a pet peeve of mine being a former science teacher.

That's your pet peeve? What gets me going is the combination of ACDC & John Denver.

Trying to be brief:

Names example:
#128008; is cat (English), un gato (Spanish), neko (Japanese), Mieze (German), un chat (French), paka (Swahili), con meo (Vietnamese) and countless other names depending on the language.

Classification:
The only one for #128008; is Felis catus no matter the language or country.

Carolinus Linnaeus, around 1830, invented a classification system so the worldwide scientific community would not have the many different language names confuse discussing plants and animals.

Generally the last two categories (genus and species) are all that is needed and using only these two is called binary taxonomy. The entire list, broad categories first and narrowing down are:
Domain, Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species.

Only in internet-modern times have people been "correcting" others by mistaking a taxonomic classification as an animals name.

Or...we had better start "correcting" people they don't have a cat but a Felis catus
