I'm curious what people think about these coins by artist Chris Ovdiyenko / Dead on Paper. They are custom designs that the artist had minted at Osborne Coinage (I think).

I have a few of his earlier coins which I thought were pretty cool, but really only had novelty value since they weren't circulated coinage, or even precious metals.

I did fund his Hobo Coin kickstarter for the novelty hobo coins, but also upgraded to the .999 solid silver coins which were limited to 200 of each of the 4 designs.

I also wonder about the legality of these coins, since they really seem to be the same size and weight of similar coins which were circulated (Morgan, Peace dollar, etc.). Should I be worried that someone try to recall them somehow?

I didn't post any links as I didn't want this to come across as spam, but can share links to the kickstarter, and the mint they were stamped at.

This is my first post, as well, so hello everyone! I've got a very small collection of coins that I've been building up over the past few years - nothing spectacular, just collecting interesting coins as I find them, and can afford them.

I believe these would be more in the line of bullion, rather than anything else. Although the inclusion of the Dollar might get a few grumpies jumping.

I have a limited budget for my collecting, as does almost everyone. As such, I've learned to avoid spending money on anything but my want list. Which is based on specific goals.

I've collected every type and time and country and period of both coins and tokens. The one thing I always stick too is that whatever purchase makes a collector happy is the right buy.

It's art. Some people will like it, others won't.

I don't like zombucks. Liberty is still alive and well.

They're legal. Size and weight similarities don't matter

I looked up Zombucks and couldn't find who the artist(s) was/were. Is Chris Ovdiyenko responsible for them?

I also found out that the 2018 Zombucks "Feast" Dollar (copper) is probably the lowest mintage "coin" I own at about 73,000.

Thanks everyone. I disagree that these are "zombucks" as those really appear to be a very specific brand name product, of which these are not. The mintage of these particular coins (in silver) was limited 200, and the quality of the artwork imho is superior. Chris Ovdiyenko does his work under the name "dead on paper" and he's not affiliated with the zombucks brand as far as I can tell.

I would agree these are both "art" and "bullion" for sure!
