Where you live? I'll stay off the road for a while.... Congrats! Just don't be like my grandson, he even got his license but he's to plain scared to drive, no kidding, he had the white knuckle stance all during his permit, would NOT go over 30MPH!? Go figure...

Congrats! Sounds like you're on the right track of life. Be safe out there, no texting and driving. Wish I could work in a coin shop.

Very nice! First off, I would like to reiterate the no texting a driving thing. Don't do it. Ever. I myself am a new driver, having got my licence 9/16/16 and would like to offer a little advice. This is not the stuff your parents will tell you. First off, If you are like me, you will do dumb stuff with your car once you get your licence. Find a safe place for it. Source: My truck can go 35.6 mph in reverse. I found this out in a flat, smooth, pole-free parking lot at night, miles away from civilization. Other people I know found this out on public roads, risked their own and other's safety, and ended up getting found out by the cops. None of these people have driving privileges anymore. I did donuts, drifting in the snow, and similar stupidity in similar safe secluded areas. I have found out everything about how my little truck handles this way, and have satisfied my idiotic curiosity in a safe manner. If you can resist the urge to do this idiotic crap, I suggest you do. However, the experience sliding around in the snow actually helps my real world driving, so I even recommend doing it sometime. If you need to drive in snow, get snow tires, not AWD. I can't tell you how many subarus and rogues I beat in the tracton department last winter in my 2wd truck with snow tires. Also, AWD tends to make people cocky, and this is bad when it's slick. Finally, I recommend learning to drive a stick if you can. My truck is a stick, and it helps for winter, because I can start in 2nd. When I first got it, the 2nd syncro was bad so I learned to double clutch and then to shift without the clutch. Useful? No, but it's a cool skill to have, and it was fun to learn. This it not to say you should buy a broken car just because it's fun to learn to work around. Don't do that, if you don't have to. Driving stick is also more fun in a lot of cars. It won't get you girls , but if you meet a girl who drives stick, you'll look dumb if you can't too. Sorry for the long soapbox, but I hope it was useful in some way. Good luck!

Wow, I can't express how much better I felt about life when I started driving. The only piece of advice I can give is: Never trust other drivers!Keep a keen eye on others who are on the road with you. So, do you or will you have a vehicle all to yourself? If you're up to it, learn stick-shift early. After that, everything else is a piece of cake. I regret not ever learning it (no one offered to teach me, though). I can drive a manual but, it has to be a motorcycle.

Happy Birthday. I have well over a couple million miles driving experience ... Cars, Tractor Trailer and School Bus. I think some of the most important things I have learned are keep far behind other vehicles. It takes a fraction of a second to get to the point where you would be if you were tailgating. Don't worry about the guy behind you unless he is on your bumper. If he is, pull over and let him go by. You will find there are no shortage of idiots on the road. Don't look at them, don't make gestures, don't get emotionally involved because when you've avoided a confrontation with that one, another idiot will soon take his place. And as stated before, don't even use the cell phone while driving, let alone texting. If you must, pull off the road in a safe place and take care of that. Driving is serious business, take my word for it rather than learn how serious it is the hard way. Be safe and thank you for reading.

Happy birthday and congrats on the license. As a dad who's gotten two sons through the learning permit process in Ohio, I will say take your time and get as many hours as you can behind the wheel with a CALM experienced driver in the seat next to you (mom couldn't take it ). You need to build up some experience and time in the driver's seat.

Happy birthday Dustin. As stated by others, be careful out on the road. There's plenty of careless drivers out there. Learn to be on the lookout for them.
