I went to my bank and dropped off some inventory in the safe deposit box. Most of the box has slabbed coins and some silver ASE, rounds, etc.

Does anyone take any precautions like putting silica gel or anything like that in their box? My bank is older so I don't think they have any special humidity or temp controlled features. Any other special SDB storage options that you use?
Rest in Peace

Silica packs are a very good idea. Replace them yearly, just prior to your most humid season.

You can also get self contained battery operated mini dehumidifier. I use one in my vault and it keeps the humidity down very well.

Since your bank is older, check the metal interior of the box to insure there is no corrosion. If so, you will need to air tight everything before it goes in.

Make sure your mate or best friend knows where your key is.

The coins in my safe deposit box at the bank are in LARGE zip lock bags, that also contain silica packs.

Haw - using Lincoln's as a canary is a great idea.
