I got a complete 50 roll box of 2017 Effigy Mound D Mint Quarters when I ordered a box of quarters from my bank. I would like to know what you would have done with it? Would you have left it unopened, opened it and gone through the rolls to look for quality quarters and errors (if there are any) or keep some rolls and sell the other rolls? After looking at the box for about a week and a half, I decided to open the box to look through the rolls and looked through 8 rolls, have found nothing to get excited about so I'm not sure if I should keep opening rolls (it's quite boring looking at these quarters as there isn't much to look at), if I should just put the other rolls away or put some rolls away and sell some rolls? What would you do?

to CCF. I would look for errors and varieties. I would also look for any high grade ones. John1

I would spend them. But I say that because I don't collect the ATB Quarters in protest to the multi yearly designs and the over inflated mint/proof sets.

When I get nickels and cents boxes that each feature one denomination, I use them as replacement sources for coins I remove from other rolls. I don't check for dates and varieties, but I just quickly search for blank planchets.

If you can absorb a $500 investment, I would put the box to the side for a year or so and see if any pertinent errors start cropping up. If so, then you can look through the rolls for them, save the perfect coins then dispose of the rest.

If you know what to look for,why wait years. What ever errors or varieties that might be in the rolls now, will be there next year. John1

I guess I'm just not willing to destroy my eyes looking at 2000 quarters unless I have a specific thing to look for. If someone enjoys poring over coins, maybe they could even find something new and become semi-famous.

I just don't have the time or patience to sift through a full box looking for errors, but there are plenty of people who do and very much enjoy doing so. The last time or two I've gotten a full box of BU quarters, I've just dumped all but a couple rolls.

Joe! I am not one to sit and look through coins for errors or MS coins either. I would have just cashed them in. But if you enjoy that sort of thing good luck!

to the CCF! I would keep one roll that shows the obverse at one end and the reverse at the other, and then cash in the rest of the box. While I personally love ATB Quarters, the mintages have been rising over the past few years to negate any value of tying up so many rolls. Nevertheless, it's important to do what makes you happy

to CCF! I might just hang on to them for a couple months. See if anything valuable is found. If not, then just spend them. If something good exists, then go hunting for it. But I'd let others do the heavy lifting. Yes, that means you won't have the discovery piece...

What it boils down to is what each collector's interest lies upon, you must have had a reason to order a $500 box of quarters to begin with, some of us go through thousand upon thousand coins by CRH for a specific reason, to find high grades or Errors, what ever your interest is then you should follow. For the future these coins will see a nominal premium increase which to me would't be worth stashing away.

Just want to thank all of you that replied to this. It was nice to get the different ideas that people had on this and what they would do with the box of quarters. I decided to open the box up and go through the quarters but keep 10 rolls to put away. I have gone through about 15 rolls so far and have found nothing of interest and it's been quite boring to do when you don't know if there is an error or not on these quarters. I also haven't found any coins that would grade at least a MS68 yet either and 67's just wouldn't be cost effective to send in to be graded. I did this with the 2005 Bison nickels years ago and did find some of the true speared bison nickels and sent them to PCGS to be graded (still have them). That was fun to do as there were those errors and others to find that I knew going into it and got lucky to find some out of couple of rolls. Anyhow, thank you all who replied to this and look forward to being here and giving advice and opinions as well as getting advice and opinions from people.

I'd spend them. My eyes aren't good enough for looking for varieties. :)
