I just found that, similar to the minor doubled dies on the old memorial reverse cents, the middle stripe of the shield on the newer shield reverse cents can be doubled. I'm surprised these have not been found sooner as this is the eighth year this reverse has been used and I have found about 20 examples in one $25 box of pennies (so they are pretty common). Here are pictures of the best ones I've found so far and one really minor one for reference.

Wow! Submit them to John A. Wexler. These are all unlisted DDR's for the Shield Cents. :)

The second one is already on its way to Wexler.
I'll definitely send out the more noticeable ones.

How exciting, Thanks for sharing your new discovery with us. I just went through a bunch of shields - don't know if I will unwrap them; but I still have another half of box to go through - maybe I'll find one too :)
Rest in Peace

I can't tell from pix innie/outies very well, old eyes! Just hope since these seem to roughly be in same horizontal/vertical planes that these are not feeder finger or ejector marks?

I really don't think it is damage, that is a very small area so a hit there would show in the areas around it. But, some sort of feeder finger or other die event is certainly a possibility. Tanman already has a sample sent off to Wexler so we will probably know in the next week or so.

All those lines in the shield are small narrow squared fins on the die. That makes them subject to wear. It also affords easier doubling of the dies. Also the anomalies are in the area on the coins where most doubled dies occur. If it's wear, it's more than likely in later die states. That's just another reason for posting pictures of the whole coin with both sides when posting anomalies. Markers can usually be found also (very useful in tracking dies). Mr. Wexler will have that advantage when he receives the coins.
From what I can see here, I think it's wear on the dies. Show me one in a nice early die state and I'll change my mind.

Here are pics of the 2014 (first picture in this post). Sorry if these aren't good enough to tell die state, I don't really know how to take good pictures of entire coins with what I have right now.
